The conning Tower of U-96
It´s very hard to find pictures from U-96, there are three different types of markings on the conning tower.
U-96 consist to the 7th U- Flotilla, the marking was the snorting bull, later in time a friend of Kptlt. Heinrich Lehmann-Willenbrock his name was Kossatz painted the laughing sawfisch in green to the tower. As Lehman-Willenbrock changed to the 9th U-Flotilla he took over his personal marking the sawfish to the 9th U-Flotilla, at this time the sawfish was assigned to the 9th Flotilla.
Type1: At end of the 3th Patrol and the Start of the 4th Patrol the laughing swordfish was applied to the CT .
Type2: Late in spring 1941 the order was to apply also to snorting bull of the 7th Flotilla in honour of U-47, there was no space to apply two bulls, only one bull was applied in the middle of the CT.
Type3: Late in 1941 there was an order to remove all personal markings from the CT, after removing the swordfish there was more space, the middle bull was removed and a snorting bull was applied on each side. It was the time of the 7th Patrol.

Remark: Please see the right position in front at the conning tower! The colour is still a miracle but on my opinion the swordfish was lime green for U-96.
